Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) Airport announced that it has become the first general aviation airport to have Automated Passport Control (APC) Kiosks at their U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) facility. “We admire Fort Lauderdale’s progressive and innovative approach to serving international passengers, and are proud to have our kiosks play a part in its success,” says Tim Walsh, Director of GCR’s Airport Solutions.

At the beginning of 2017, Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) was experiencing growing U.S. CBP wait times and decreased customer satisfaction. They required a solution that provided a smoother, more convenient process for their 300 daily international travelers.

After researching the market, they selected GCR Inc. (GCR), one of the very few CBP-approved providers of APC Kiosks. APC Kiosks expedite international passenger arrivals and minimize time spent with CBP officers by collecting a passenger’s passport, flight information, and declaration data, taking a photo and scanning fingerprints, then issuing a receipt that can be verified in person.
With an expedited delivery time and a guaranteed lowest price, FXE purchased the kiosks directly from the GSA Schedule 70. Fully installed by GCR technicians and using GCR’s managed services (cloud-based management and hosting), FXE simply had to provide the footprint, power, and internet. The Kiosks went live December 2017 and FXE is now able to process 20 people through two kiosks in less than 20 minutes, reducing pre-installation wait times by 50%.
